We finally meant it was to Soto Mare this weekend take an early dinner before an important show. It has been on my list from the time I read the guide regarding their cioppino. When I made some worries for six I wasnt sure they are able to hold us all perfectly but little did I'm sure they also had a good downstairs basement like area with one or two rooms. Upstairs there is actually a long counter with sitting facing an open kitchen's and small tables for 2 line the walkway. Soto Mare is really a seafood restaurant with an informal family atmosphere, fresh seafood and walls chock jam packed with various memorabilia. The dcor reminds me a little bit like something I would find at the East coast, but special like San Franciscos Northern Beach.
The category of us started with a new bowl of mussels and clams in any garlic butter sauce. I wasn't sure I JUST liked clams and mussels I favor in a red sauce but above was tasty. The two people shared our dinner, beginning with a bowl of clam chowder. It was quite smoky within the bacon which is something In my opinion is required in clam chowder but I'd personally have preferred it as being a bit thicker. Overall nonetheless it was very tasty and I'd personally try it again. Next there was the cioppino, based on the article I read it's a must try in fact it is a bowl recommended for just two at $38. Going in I did some reservations having possessed the cioppino at Tadish Bbq and loving it and although this has been different it was good. The cioppino was chock rife with seafood, tiny scallops, calamari, stool leg pieces, clams and additionally mussels. It was suppose of having fish in it in addition but I didnt certainly find any in my own bowl. I would have chosen the crab to be straight from the shell so it was initially easier and less messy to have but it was cracked so fairly simple. The bib helped protect me from your mess but the report towel napkin roll was a lot less than what was desired while again reminding me associated with an East coast seafood shack. Even though the recipe doesnt indicate almost any warm spices I thought it had a winner of cinnamon, allspice or possibly nutmeg. I was surprised to work out how little spices typically the recipe indicated. A nice touch on the cioppino was lining the underside was ziti so I could enjoy more of the sauce not each as much loaf of bread.
Soto Mare is usually a place Ill return to use something different and the very next time Ill sit upstairs and perhaps at the counter.
