Well as luck may have it, this dessert is an excellent blending of blackberries in addition to bourbon, two food things that match perfectly.

You can certainly use most fruits to do this dessert but the cowboys generally seems to prefer berries as they grew wild in the various landscapes of a ranges. Personally I love the mixture off the sweetness of the berries marrying considering the bourbon and the pungent buttermilk crust generally bring it all jointly.

This recipe can be presented in two pieces, leading off with the actual buttermilk crust. Regarding any crust, the original recipe required lard (rendered animal fat) but since lard isn't that easy to find at present, you can use shortening when i did for adapting the following recipe. I would never, however, substitute butter.

Ingredients to the Buttermilk Crust:

2 mugs flour
2 Tbs. sugar
1 The best spinner's. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 pot shortening
1 cup buttermilk

Steps:

In a medium bowl combine many of the ingredients to form a dough (it might be sticky).
Set the actual dough aside.

Ingredients for your Bourbon Blackberry Filling:

6 The best spinner's. butter
3/4 cup brown lightly sugar
3/4 cup vivid white sugar
1 cup cream
1/4 drink bourbon
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 pound blackberries (you may also use raspberries or boysenberries)

Steps:

Pre-heat cooktop to 350 degrees.
In a smaller Dutch Oven (or casserole dish that may be flame-proof), melt the butter above medium heat.
Into the melted butter stir in every one the ingredients, except that berries, until the all kinds of sugar have liquified.
Add that berries and gently dispose of to coat.
Remove the Dutch Oven through the heat.
Place the dough over the berries and roughly erase.
Place in a oven and bake 25 a few minutes.
Remove from any oven and let cold before serving.
